CMDB health rules

What keeps the CMDB trustworthy after go-live.

  • ✦Start with services. Model the top business services first; populate what they depend on.
  • ✦Discovery over imports. Prefer Discovery and Service Graph Connectors to spreadsheets.
  • ✦IRE always. No direct GlideRecord inserts into cmdb_ci tables. Use IRE with identification rules.
  • ✦Reconciliation rules. Decide which source is authoritative per class and attribute.
  • ✦Ownership. Every class has an owner group; every CI has a managed-by group.
  • ✦Health dashboard. Track completeness, correctness and compliance scores; fix the worst class first.
  • ✦Lifecycle. Retire and archive stale CIs with CMDB Data Manager policies instead of deleting.Hidden gem
